Statement on Recent Anti-Semitism in TorontoPublished on July 07, 2020
TORONTO - “It is very disheartening and frustrating to once again see such blatant and vile anti-Semitic behaviour in Ontario. The recent remarks displayed by Foodbenders Restaurant in Toronto are disgusting and have no place in Ontario or anywhere in the world.
This and other incidents strengthen our resolve to move forward with Bill 168, the Combating Antisemitism Act, which would see our province adopt the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, providing much needed clarity in the interpretation of hate speech and hate crime laws in our province.
I will continue to work alongside my colleague and co-sponsor, Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma, to see this bill become law in Ontario.”
