Yes, graduation this year was different - as was the year itself, something none of us would have predicted.

Dear Neighbour,

Toronto is now OPEN! If you received my newsletter on Tuesday, you may have read that the City of Toronto and the Region of Peel entered Stage 2 of the Framework to Reopen our Province as of yesterday, Wednesday June 24th, at 12:01am. Many businesses and amenities across the City of Toronto and the Region of Peel have now reopened with public health measures in place.

While we are not completely out of the woods yet, now is a great time to consider supporting our local small businesses who have faced unprecedented challenges in recent months. Shop local, dine local, and support local - Eglinton-Lawrence is once again open for business!
This week, the Ministry of Education released a new math curriculum that will better prepare students for work in a world that is quickly evolving. This new math curriculum brings math education "back to basics" while including new lessons on coding and financial literacy, starting as early as Grade 1. This will better improve problem solving and fluency with technology to prepare students for jobs in the future. To see the new curriculum grade by grade click here.
DriveTest Centres around Ontario have reopened with limited services, beginning with G1 and M1 knowledge tests, driver's licence exchanges and commercial driver's licence applications and upgrades.

People with birthdays between January to June will be allowed to visit a centre the first week of reopening, and people with birthdays between July to December will have access to DriveTest services the following week. Access to DriveTest services will continue to alternate weekly until full services are restored. For more information click here.
This week, tens of thousands of students across Ontario, graduated from different schools, embarking a new chapter within their lives. Yes, graduation this year was different - as was the year itself, something none of us would have predicted.

But that should not and does not diminish the hard work of students within Ontario. You deserve every bit of this milestone. Congratulations on this accomplishment that you will look back on for years to come.
As you continue to enjoy the summer, the good weather and the amenities and businesses that are reopening in Phase 2, continue to keep in mind physical distancing and other health and safety guidelines that will keep us all safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Together, we will get through this.
